Dispelling the Myth’s of Firearms Ownership In Canada

Editorial January 6, 2011

I have been fortunate enough to have firearms experts safely instruct and mentor me from a very early age. Including the same firearms training as the police before I reached my teens, and soon after held certifications from Smith and Wesson, Glock, Remington, Beretta, and the Canadian government to name a few. I have been fortunate to be exposed to the professional side of firearms ownership, and that expertise has shaped my perspective of firearms ownership in Canada. I want to give back to the community by dispelling some of the firearm myths as well as answer the questions I hear most frequently. Some points of interest that have been raised are:

  • Why would anyone need a firearm?
  • Can anyone own firearms in Canada?  If so, what types of firearms and how do they start?
  • How can you legally
    • Store
    • transport or,
    • display firearms
    • My relative has a firearm that they left for me, what do I do?

If you have any questions you would like to have answered, by all means drop me an email and I will do my best to have them addressed.

Sincerely,

Travis Bader
